Former AFC Wimbledon striker Marcus Gayle has said that not enough has been done about the lack of black and ethnic minority (BME) managers in English football.
Only 19 BME coaches hold one of the 552 top positions at the 92 Premier and Football League clubs. Gayle, who is now manager at Conference South Staines, said that that doesn't seem to be a lot.
The former striker was quoted by The BBC as saying that it seems to be the same old story of people getting recruited for who they know rather than what they know.
He added that there has to be something that is currently going on, some sort of blockage of improvement or allowing people of different origins to get involved in the game.
The Jamaican footballer believes that there is definitely need for a bigger table to have this conversation on about the recruitment policies, of candidates for certain positions.
