Former South African leg-spinner Vivian Ian Smith passed away yesterday at the age of 90.
Paying tribute to the former player, Cricket South Africa chief Haroon Lorgat extended his deepest condolences to his family, his friends and his cricketing colleagues, Sport24 reported.
Smith made his debut in Nottingham against England in 1947, when he claimed his career-best figures of seven wickets for 189.
He appeared in nine Test matches against England and Australia between 1947 and 1957.
Domestically, Smith best bowling figures were against the Border, where he took nine wickets for 88 runs.
