Aston Villa captain Fabian Delph has ruled out reports of him joining Manchester City, saying that he is staying at the club.

Delph did not leave with the rest of the Villa squad for their training camp in Portugal on Thursday amid strong speculation that he was poised to move to the Etihad Stadium for eight million pound.

The mid-fielder released a statement, saying that he was not leaving the club, adding that he was anxious for the start of the Premier League season, the BBC reported.

Delph had helped Villa retain their Premier League status last term, making 28 league appearances, and also played a crucial role in their run to the FA Cup final, where they lost 4-0 to Arsenal.
