Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis held his first cabinet meeting on Saturday during which he pledged to work towards the development of the state in the coming five years.

"A Cabinet meeting was held between 11 am to 4 pm. We have pledged to work towards the development of Maharashtra in the coming five years," Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sudhir Mungantiwar told media here.

Mungantiwar further said that during the meeting the chief minister was briefed about the challenges faced by the departments ranging from power, finance, agriculture and home.

"During the meeting, the chief minister was briefed about the challenges faced by the power, finance, agriculture and home departments. We accepted these challenges and discussed ways to tackle them," Mungantiwar said.

"The challenges faced by the other ministries will be discussed in the meeting scheduled to be held on November 5," he added.

Earlier on Friday, Fadnavis was sworn-in as Chief Minister of the first BJP government in Maharashtra at a grand ceremony held in Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium.
