Australian all-rounder James Faulkner has hailed the passion of the Scottish fans, saying that they express it a lot more than the crowds back home in Australia.

Faulkner made the statement after reportedly watching his first-ever soccer match between Scotland and England at Wembley, which ended in a 3-2 win for the hosts.

Ahead of the one-off ODI between Australia and Scotland, Faulkner however, said that he rooted for Scotland in the match, adding that even though England won, Scottish fans were very passionate in supporting their side, even more than the fans at Australia.

Stating that Scotland got off to a good start by scoring first in the game, Faulkner also said that seeing the passion of the players, he believes that Australia will have a fight in their hands when they face Scotland on September 3.

Meanwhile, Faulkner said that it is necessary for a player to stamp his authority each time he gets an opportunity to play for his country, adding that if he does well in the first couple of games, it keeps him in good stead.

Faulkner, who counts George Bailey Snr, the father of the Australian Twenty20 captain, as one of his most important influences, believes there is never any need to be overawed by fame, although he added that he hoped that he and his young teammates can one day become heroes for the Australian public like their predecessors.
