Felipe Massa says considered 'quitting F1' following Bianchi's accident

Williams driver Felipe Massa has revealed that he considered quitting Formula One after Marussia driver Jules Bianchi's 160 miles-per-hour horror accident during the Japanese Grand Prix.

Despite being in an accident at the Hungarian Grand Prix five years ago that put him in a coma and nearly cost him an eye, the Brazilian described Suzuka last Sunday as the worst day of his life.

Massa said that it is so difficult to be everyday because he can just be thinking about Bianchi. He said that it was the worst day of his life, worse than when he had his accident, The Mirror reported.

The Brazilian racer said that maybe it would get a little bit better when they start racing, and added that at least, then, one has some issue to put inside their brain.

Massa admitted that even climbing into the cockpit had come under review. He said that for sure, one thinks about it, but it doesn't mean that that is the right thing to do.

Fears are growing that Bianchi, one of the paddock's most popular figures, may not recover from Sunday's crash. He remains in intensive care in Japan.

The drivers are set for a showdown with the FIA over safety before Sunday's Russian Grand Prix at a meeting in the paddock in Sochi on Friday, the report added.
