18-year-old Felix Auger-Aliassime became the youngest Miami Open semi-finalist in the tournament's 35-year history by defeating Croatia's Borna Coric 7-6(3), 6-2 in the quarter-finals.

"Playing Borna, who's been established for a few years now, I definitely didn't expect to win. I expected more, a set like in the first. But the second really surprised me. I felt like I had a margin over him, had a bit of an edge. I just felt really comfortable out there from the first balls," Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) quoted Felix as saying.

The Canadian has played all his matches in this year's tournament against players who are in the top 20 of ATP rankings and has recorded a win in every single match.

Felix was already the youngest quarter-finalist in the tournament's history since Andy Roddick in 2011 and he is the first player born in the 2000s to make it to an ATP Masters 1000 quarter-final.

"Everyone is super excited back home. It's great to hear all these good comments from them. It puts a lot of belief in tennis in Canada," Felix said.

The 18-year-old was seen in complete control throughout the match. He and Boric exchanged baseline rallies throughout the opening set and Felix was often seen taking charge.

Coric committed 38 unforced errors whereas Felix just had 16 unforced errors in the match.

Felix will now take on the defending champion of Miami Open John Isner in the semi-finals.
