A new reboot of Shane Black's 'The Nice Guys' is headed to TV, but with a gender-swapping twist.
Fox has given a script commitment plus penalty for a female-led reboot titled 'The Nice Girls,' reports The Hollywood Reporter.
The new TV version is described as a contemporary and a more female-centered take on the 2016 film, which starred Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling as a pair of private eyes investigating a missing girl and death of a pornographic star in 1977's Los Angeles.
Despite strong reviews, 'The Nice Guys' was not a huge box office success, tallying $57 million domestically on a reported budget of $50 million.
The series adaptation will be written by Michael Diliberti as well as executive produced, along with Ken Kao and Joel Silver, who produced the original, and Rodney Ferrell, the head of Silver Pictures Television.
'The Nice Girls' would join a host of other Fox series based on movies, including 'The Exorcist' and 'Lethal Weapon.
