Former Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand has urged Everton defender John Stones to go to Old Trafford instead of Chelsea, saying that the youngster will not be able to play if he chooses the latter.
Ferdinand, who retired at the end of last season, believes that the 21-year-old is at the stage of development where he wants to play each week, saying that this could only be possible if he selects United.
He further said that one would be a lunatic to leave a club and consign himself to the substitute's bench, the BBC reported.
Everton had earlier rejected two bids by Chelsea for England international Stones, while Manchester united manager Louis Van Gaal has also expressed his wish to sign him.
Stones has made 44 Premier League appearances and earned four England caps since joining Everton from Barnsley in 2013.
