Japanese engine giants Honda that will partner McLaren next season will now be allowed to upgrade its engine during 2015 as Formula One's governing body FIA has given it a green signal.

Earlier, FIA had barred Honda from changing any of its engines but only allowed Mercedes, Renault and Ferrari to develop their engines.

However, Honda had expressed its unhappiness as it claimed it to be an unfair situation, the BBC reported.

With the latest ruling, Honda will now be permitted to develop its brand new engine within limits explicitly laid out by the FIA.
