'Fifty Shades of Grey' book by E.L James has dropped out of the list of 'Top 100 Most-borrowed Library Books' this year, from being the third most borrowed book previous year.

The Public Lending Right scheme showcased the library borrowing figures in which 'Fifty Shades of Grey' did not make the top 100 list, whereas it created history in British in 2012 by becoming the bestselling book and selling more than 5.3 million copies, overtaking Dan Brown's 'The Da Vinci Code', the Independent reported.

Judith Watts, senior lecturer of publishing at Kingston University said that the book had become so ubiquitous that now it has reached its saturation stage and it was no longer enticing to readers.

James Patterson, the American thriller writer has remained the most-borrowed author for the eighth year in a row by having 13 novels in the top 100, with 'Second Honeymoon' the most borrowed of his work, at No 8.

Six children's authors has made the top 10 including former Children's Laureate Julia Donaldson, the third-most-borrowed of the year, Daisy Meadows and Francesca Simon, who was behind the Horrid Henry books.
