Condemning the brutal killing of Mohammad Akhlaq in Dadri over alleged rumours that his family consumed and stored beef in their house, Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Azam Khan on Friday said that the fights between the Hindus and the Muslims should end in the name of meat.

"In the name of meat, these fights between Masjid and Mandir(temple) should end. There should be a law against cow and pig meat. I condemn the Dadri incident. If Prime Minister Modi would have responded to the Dadri incident, then we would have assumed that he is trying to erase his past and moving beyond 2002(Godhra riots)," Khan told ANI here.

50-year-old Akhlaq, the father of an Indian Air Force personnel, was beaten to death by a mob in Dadri, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday night, over alleged rumours that his family consumed and stored beef in their house.

The family has maintained that the meat stored in their fridge was mutton and not beef. Meanwhile, officials have sent the meat samples for a forensic test.
