First woman editor at Time Inc. Pat Ryan dies at 75

Pat Ryan, the first woman editor at Time Inc. died because of cancer in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. She was 75.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, she began her career as a secretary at Sports Illustrated magazine before becoming the managing editor of People, where she was also awarded the National Magazine Award for General Excellence.

She also worked at Life magazine from 1987 to 1989.

Howard Chua-Eoan, former Time news director and People senior editor, said that she was a trailblazer and wonderfully kind.
