Over 400,000 people have been affected by floods in eight districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Major rivers in the sub-Himalayan Terai region are said to be in spate.
The River Sharda is flowing above the danger mark in Paliakalan while the River Ghaghra is above the red mark in Bahraich.
The River Ganges is rising at Kannauj, Allahabad, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Ghazipur and Ballia, whereas the River Yamuna is in spate at Baghpat, Auraiyya, Hamirpur, Banda and Allahabad.
The state experienced widespread rains in many places in the past 24 hours including Mathura, Bijnor, Kanpur, Raebareli, Barabanki, Lakhimpur Kheri and Gorakhpur.
The death toll has risen to 149 caused by rain and flood in this season.
Bahraich continues to be one of the worst affected districts by the ravaging flood waters of the River Ghaghra.
