Heavy water logging due to continuous rainfall in Srinagar has resulted in acute floods thereby affecting the day to day life of the local residents.
Local residents are facing trouble in commuting and the business is also suffering as the shops remain shut due to flood water entering the shops, offices, hospitals and houses.
A local resident Farooq Ahmad expressed concern over the worsening situation, saying, "We are facing a lot of trouble, the rain stopped for a while but it started again, shopkeepers and locals are facing problems. The administration should think about ways to release water so that we can go to our work place. The situation continues to be grim at all places, be it hospitals, offices, houses."
Another local resident Abdullah Tehkir added, "We are praying for things to get normal, the roads are in bad condition and we are suffering a lot. All possible measures should be taken and help should be provided."
The floods and landslides in Jammu and Kashmir have taken the total death toll to at least 90, with around 70 people left dead on Friday. Pulwama, Anantnag and Kulgam districts in south Kashmir have been the worst hit due to the disaster.
Incessant rains have also resulted in mud slides, flash floods and rising of water level in all rivers of Jammu and Kashmir, which has left thousands of people stranded across the state.
The Home Ministry had on Friday moved two teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to the flood-affected areas of Jammu due to the continuous massive rainfall.
