Foreign Secretary Sujatha will visit the United States next week for talks with the American leadership and with her counterpart Wendy Sherman, who is the Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs.
The meeting is scheduled for December 10.
This is Singh's first visit to the U.S. after taking over as India's 29th Foreign Secretary in August this year.
Ministry of External Affairs spokesman Syed Akbaruddin confirmed the visit.
"This is the first visit of Sujatha Singh as foreign secretary, and so, this is also a familiarisation visit. She is expected to meet several other officials from other departments."
She is also expected to meet Members of the Foreign Relations Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives and some senior American senators.
