Oscar-winning sound engineer Resul Pookutty on Friday said that the meeting of the FTII student's delegation with the Information and Broadcasting officials is in progress.
He added that there were many other issues to discuss than the recent appointment of Gajendra Chauhan as the chairperson of the Pune-based Film and Television Institute of India or FTII.
"There has been a discussion about issues pertaining to the students and the institute. There are much bigger issues we are talking about. It is not just appointment of XYZ. We have arrived at a consensus. The meeting is in progress. Certain decisions cannot be taken by ministry officials," Pookutty said.
Later, they will also meet Union Minister Arun Jaitley to discuss the matter.
Several students and alumni of the institute had earlier staged a protest outside the Information and Broadcasting Ministry at Shastri Bhawan in the national capital over the appointment of Chauhan as the chairperson of the institution.
