The panel of Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA) conferred Shri Jayraj G. Udeshi, better known as 'Vamanbhai', Director of Ihsedu Agrochem, for Global Castor Lifetime Achievement Award.
He has played a vital role in bringing global attention on Indian castor industry and contributing significantly towards increasing farmers livelihood in the western region of the country.
The award was felicitated by Siraj Hussain, Former Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Govt of India, at The Global Castor Conference - 2019. The conference was addressed by Atul Chaturvedi, President at SEA. Other guests of honour present on the occasion were Santosh Sarangi, Joint Secretary - Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India and Vijay Kumar V. Managing Director and CEO, NCDEX - Mumbai.
On behalf of Jayraj Udeshi, the award was received by Vikram Udeshi - CFO at Jayant Agro-Organics Group, the parent company of Ihsedu Agrochem. Commenting on the achievement, Vamanbhai, said, "The years spent working and travelling, gave me a feeling to do more for the farmers in India. We aim to achieve higher productivity through good farming practices, thereby improving earnings for the farmer community and provide the raw material for the industry as well."
Vamanbhai holds more than five decades of experience in purchasing and trading castor seeds and oil. He has a tremendous understanding of the castor crop and has a penchant for deciphering and forecasting market behaviour of castor seeds.
During the ceremony, a brief overview of the castor industry was given by Abhay Udeshi, Chairman of Jayant Agro Group and Vice-president at SEA. Commenting on the honour, Abhay, said, "Right from the beginning of my career, I have been fortunate to work along with Vamanbhai and have benefited from his experience and wisdom. It is indeed a moment of pride, not only for him but also for me and the whole Jayant Agro-Organics Group."
SEA is an association that brings together the full ecosystem of processors, exporters and importers, oil millers and refiners working together to shape the future of oil extraction business in India. With an annual processing capacity of about 30 million tonnes, the association comprises of over 875 members including about 350 working solvent extraction plants.
