Commenting on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's threat to quit his post if the Jan Lokpal Bill is not passed, former IPS officer and close aide of social activist Anna Hazare, Kiran Bedi, on Monday said that the government does not run on warnings and threats, but on patience and wisdom.
"The government doesn't work with warnings and threats. Governance and administration requires a complete toolkit in which every weapon is required. Every member works together and addresses the concerns of the people," said Bedi.
"Administration happens with thought and patience. They cannot keep scaring people. Governance requires communication, collaborations and wisdom and all these things are missing in their government. The can only threaten. He has to work together with the people. How long will people be scared?" she asked.
"This is where experience matters but it can happen only once they want to gain experience but I think they just want to run away from it. They should understand that Delhi people did not vote for a government that wants to run away but they voted for a government which would solve their issues and bring stability," she said.
Kejriwal had on Sunday said that he would resign from the Chief Ministership of Delhi if the Jan Lokpal Bill is not passed in the Delhi Assembly.
"If the bill is not passed then I have no wish to continue as the chief minister. I can sacrifice the chair of a chief minister 100 times to wipe out corruption from this country. To establish Swaraj in the country I can sacrifice the chair 1000 times. I haven't come here to become a chief minister; I have come here to clean corruption from this country," Kejriwal had said.
