Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the AYUSH Ministry, Shripad Yesso Naik, said the government is fully committed to promote various streams of AYUSH system of medicine, including Ayurveda, Unani, Homoeopathy and Siddha etc.
He was speaking at a seminar on yoga and spirituality at Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh today.
Naik said that it was on the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that a separate Ministry of AYUSH was created to develop and promote these systems of medicine.
Yoga, he said, has also got a high level of international recognition now because of the prime minister's decision to popularize it.
Highlighting the importance of Yoga, Naik explained that it is not only a health practice but also a means to unite the people due to its inherent connection with the mind.
Several Yoga experts also demonstrated the Yoga poses at today's function.
