Union Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan has said that the government and the private sectors should work together to ensure a skilled ecosystem.

"It's important that government and private sector work hand in hand to ensure strong skilled ecosystem. We're partnering with nations like Japan, UAE etc to ensure global opportunities for training and employment for our youth," the Union Minister said here on Sunday.

He further said, "We need to ensure convergence at every step to ensure that we engage the youth of our country meaningfully if we hope to see the New India of our dreams."

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship along with the National Skill Development Corporation on Sunday announced the beginning of India Skills Regional Competitions (Eastern Chapter) 2018 at Shiksha 'O' Anusandhan University in Bhubaneswar.

The event also marked the third-anniversary celebration of Skill India Mission, on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day.

Pradhan also interacted with the participants of the competition, where more than 200 participants across 22 states are competing fiercely in more than 27 diverse skill traits.

The winners will compete at the national-level competition, where they would contend with winners from other regions to win a chance of representing India at World Skills 2019 in Kazan, Russia.
