Govt. sets Rs. 42,512 crore investment target from private sector for Swacch Bharat

Government has set an investment target of Rs. 42,512 crore from the private sector under Swachh Bharat Mission in urban areas.

According to an official release, out of the total project cost of Rs. 62,009 crore, the central assistance would be Rs. 14,623 crore while the states and Union territories would be required to contribute Rs. 4,874 crore.

Under this Mission, it is targeted to build one crore individual household toilets besides 2.52 crore community toilet seats.

The Mission, launched by Prime Minister Narendra on 2nd of October, seeks to eliminate open defecation and manual scavenging, besides promoting modern and scientific municipal solid waste management.

Prime Minister Modi had earlier on Thursday also nominated classical dancer Sonal Mansingh, former Delhi police commissioner and anti-graft activist Kiran Bedi, former cricketer Sourav Ganguly and comedian Kapil Sharma for his mission.
