Asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has 'zero tolerance' towards corruption, the government on Monday defended External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, saying none of their ministers had done anything wrong.
Taking to the media after today's all-party meeting, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu hit back at the detractors of Sawaraj and Raje.
"In these two issues of Sushma ji and Vasundhara ji, there's not even an iota of truth. The Prime Minister believes in zero tolerance towards corruption. None of our ministers have done anything wrong illegally or immorally," he said.
Accusing the political parties of declaring a washout of the House even before hearing Swaraj's comments on the Lalit Modi controversy, he complained that it was 'unfair' on the part of the people to run a campaign against one of the 'best-performing, honest' ministers.
The all-party meeting took place after Prime Minister Modi met his senior Cabinet colleagues to look for ways to end the ongoing logjam in the Monsoon Session of Parliament, with an adamant opposition led by the Congress firm on the resignation of tainted leaders linked to the Lalit Modi controversy and the Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh.
The Centre has, however, ruled out the possibility of its ministers resigning.
