Mozambique President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi will pay a five-day visit to India beginning tomorrow during which he will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A high-level delegation, including the Mozambican Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Minerals and Energy, Agriculture, Transportation and Communications and Interior, would accompany the visiting President besides senior officials and a business delegation.
President Nyusi will meet his Indian counterpart Pranab Mukherjee and Vice President Hamid Ansari during his visit.
President Nyusi, who would also be accompanied by his wife, will also visit Ahmedabad for a day. He was an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad, where he completed a short duration course in 2003.
This will be the Mozambique President's second visit as he had earlier visited India in 2011 as the Defence Minister.
India and Mozambique share a history of profitable trade relations. Both the nations' bilateral trade in 2014-15 values at almost USD 2.4 billion. Indian investments in Mozambique are presently valued at over USD 7 billion primarily in the hydrocarbon and coal sectors.
Mozambicans see India as an important destination for higher education and high quality health care facilities.
