The Kamrup Metro district administration has set up a web-based blood donation information and management system in order to deal with any shortage during earthquake and other calamities.
Through this portal, keen citizens can register themselves as blood donors and come forward to donate blood during the time of emergency.
Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner Dr. M. Angamuthu on Wednesday officially launched the website www.kamrupmetroonline.in for the project, stating that that the main objective of this project is to prepare for emergencies like an earthquake.
A toll free number will also be introduced so that any person requiring blood can contact the system.
The lists of blood storage units and of donors will also be in the public domain.
