Romanian tennis ace Simona Halep and Germany's Andrea Petkovic have both made it to the last four of a Grand Slam for the first time at the French Open with quarterfinals victories over Svetlana Kuznetsova and Sara Errani respectively.
Halep, who is currently at four the highest seed left in the draw, defeated Russia's Kuznetsova 6-2, 6-2 as the 2009 champion was struggling with a thigh injury.
The Romanian will now face Petkovic, who defeated 2012 finalist Errani by the same score, the BBC reported.
Petkovic reportedly broke the Italian world number 11 Errani seven times and hit 26 winners as she rose to victory, while Kuznetsova struggled throughout Halep and required a lengthy treatment at the end of the first set.
Petkovic, on reaching her first Grand Slam semifinal, said that she was in a real zone, adding that she was just focused on what she had to do.
Meanwhile, Halep said that she felt very well on court, adding that it was a perfect day for her, as she was very aggressive and played very fast.
