British former Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton believes that his Mercedes fellow racer German Nico Rosberg does not seem to possess the same desire or hunger for this year's world title as he does, and ascribes this to their different backgrounds.

Both hamilton and Rosberg have won all five races so far this season, with Hamilton leading Rosberg by three points.

The BBC quoted Hamilton, as saying that while Rosberg was giving him a tough fight, his type of hunder for the Formula One title was different to the one he possessed.

Hamilton said that while he came up the hard way, living on a couch in a Stevenage apartment that belonged to his father, Rosberg grew up in Monaco with jets and boats and other kinds of luxury.

Hamilton, whose parents split up when he was young, grew up on a council estate in Hertfordshire, while Rosberg is the son of the 1982 F1 world champion Keke Rosberg.

Rosberg believes he needs to beat Hamilton in Monaco this weekend to stem the momentum the Englishman has built up from winning four consecutive races.

The German won the season-opening race in Australia, from which Hamilton retired with an engine problem.

Hamilton says it is all about grabbing the opportunity when you have it.
