Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday filed his nomination for the Amethi Lok Sabha constituency and stated that he feels extremely happy to work for Amethi.
"It has been ten years since I have been working here in Amethi. I feel extremely happy to work for Amethi. We have worked on three things over here indepth. We have connected at least ten lakh women with banks in Uttar Pradesh , several of those women are from here as well, so that their earnings increase through milk production. We aim to connect the farmers here in Amethi through a food park with the rest of India. Thirdly creating national highways and railway lines for Amethi. Increasing employment opportunities for the youth will be my thrust area," Gandhi said.
The Gandhi scion also stated that he was hopeful about his win from Amethi, "I have strong familial bond with Amethi, I am quite hopeful about an excellent win."
Clarifying on Modi's marital issue, Rahul tried to play down the opposition's criticism of him for raking up the issue.
"I was not speaking anything personal on Modi, I just said that he did not mention certain information earlier," Gandhi said.
He also remarked that he was hopeful that Congress will stay on the course for yet another win just like the last two Lok Sabha elections and said that there is an effort to create polarization of votes in every election.
"In 2004 as well as in 2009, opinion polls were saying that the Congress will lose, in 2014 too the Congress will win. There is always an effort to create polarization in each and every election," Rahul added.
