Haryana health department puts hospitals on high alert against dengue

Haryana's Health Minister Anil Vij on Wednesday said that hospitals in the state have been put on high alert and the drive to run a sanitation campaign has been intensified to prevent the onset and spread of dengue.

"We have put our hospitals on high alert. We have provided equipments to the hospitals where there was a shortage. We have told the district officers to take an intensive and massive cleanliness drive to run the sanitation campaign," Vij told ANI.

Vij added that "Till now, 542 confirmed cases have been reported in Haryana and one death. Initially it was seen in the adjoining state of Delhi. Slowly it is spreading very fast."

The Delhi Government has also taken precautionary measures and instructed government run and private hospitals not turn way patients with serious symptoms of dengue. It has also announced that treatment will be free in government hospitals, while in private ones, the fee will not exceed Rs.600/-.

The Centre has asked the Delhi Government to increase bed strength in hospitals and to initiate action against private hospitals that were overcharging patients.
