Former British boxer-turned promoter Ricky Hatton has warned his compatriot Amir Khan not to 'go to war' with former American welterweight champion Luis Collazo in Las Vegas as he may lose the fight.
Hatton was given the fright of his life when he faced Collazo on his welterweight debut in May 2006 in Boston and was left hanging on before he controversially claimed the New Yorker's WBA title.
According to the Mirror, Hatton admitted that he found the extra seven pounds in weight a big step up and said that Khan will also struggle if he tries to trade punches with Collazo in his first fight at ten stones 7 lbs on Saturday at Las Vegas' MGM Grand as he believes that the British boxer will come unstuck
Stating that Khan has a wonderful boxing ability, great footwork and hand speed, Hatton further said that when he also found that it was harder to move against Collazo with an extra seven pounds even though he is physically stronger than Khan.
Hatton believes Khan will beat Collazo, who revived his career by knocking out Victor Ortiz inside two rounds in January, if he shows the same discipline he did in beating Andreas Kotelnik to claim the WBA light-welterweight title in July 2009.
Khan has been trying to resurrect his career since losing to Danny Garcia in July 2012 and Hatton insists he can emulate him by becoming a two-weight world champion.
