Health Minister Nadda assures full support to Delhi Govt. to tackle dengue problem

Union Health Minister J. P. Nadda on Tuesday assured that the Central Government will give every possible support to the Delhi Government to handle Dengue problem.

The Health Ministry has asked private hospitals not to charge unreasonable amounts to the patients seeking treatment.

"We have told Delhi Government that whatever support is needed will be given, and also to see that private hospitals do not overcharge patients. We have offered all hospital whatever support they need. I have also asked Delhi Government to look into the issue of private hospitals and asked them not to charge unreasonable amounts when patients come," Nadda told ANI.

"We held review meetings with multiples hospitals. We have asked them to increase bed strength, to not say no to any patient. I Have done review meetings in various hospitals on Dengue. We have increased bed strength," he added.

As per the August 28 advisory, of the Delhi Government's health department, no hospital, be it private or government, should deny admission to a patient suffering from dengue.

Also, with the increase in the number of dengue cases , the Delhi government has ordered all government hospitals to open 'Fever Clinics' at their premises to detect the disease at the primary level.

As per the municipal corporation's fresh data released yesterday, 613 cases of dengue have been reported in the last one week, and a total 1,872 patients have tested positive for the vector borne disease till September 12.
