The Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) on Wednesday called for a complete shutdown ahead of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah's maiden visit.
The HNLC is a militant organization operating in Meghalaya and claims to be a representative of the Khasi-Jaintia tribal people.
According to reports, the Thma U Rangli-Juki (TUR), a pressure group, will be organising the 'beef party' near the BJP office here.
Shah, who is presently on a week-long tour, has visited Mizoram, Nagaland and Manipur.
He will be arriving in Shillong from Sikkim today for a day-long visit.
