Australian selectors have reportedly included veterans Brad Hogg and Brad Hodge in the squad for next month's Twenty20 World Cup in Bangladesh.

At the age of 43, left-arm spinner Hogg, who debuted more than 20 years ago, will become the sixth-oldest player to represent Australia in 137 years and with his zippy spin and economy rate of 6.19, he was the third best in the Big Bash League this season and helped propel the Perth Scorchers to the title.

According to News.com.au, Hogg has found a new lease of life in the 20-over format and has turned the belief that T20 cricket is a youngster's game on its head, while Hodge has remained one of the most prolific short-form batsmen in the country even though his career looked to have ended in 2008.

The report mentioned that Test vice-captain Brad Haddin is another experienced head in the squad, which also includes a number of other players in their 30s including Test spearhead Mitchell Johnson, all-rounder Shane Watson and recalled veteran Cameron White.

The squad, which will be led by ODI captain George Bailey, has been selected for having plenty of experience playing the Twenty20 format in the sub-continent, according to national selection panel John Inverarity, who added that it has been strengthened by the return of Johnson, Haddin, Watson and David Warner.

Australia's World T20 squad: Bailey (Captain), Dan Christian, Nathan Coulter-Nile, James Faulkner, Aaron Finch, Haddin, Hodge, Hogg, Glenn Maxwell, James Muirhead, Johnson, Mitchell Star, Warner, Watson, White.
