West Indies skipper Jason Holder has said that swashbuckling batsman Chris Gayle would try his best to play in the crunch quarterfinal tie against New Zealand, despite not being 100 percent fit due to his long-standing back injury.
Gayle didn't play in the West Indies' six-wicket win over the United Arab Emirates in Napier on Sunday due to a back injury.
Describing Gayle as key-player, skipper Holder said that Chris has had the same back problem over the last year and he had good days and bad days.
Staying confident of Gayle's chances of playing in the quarterfinal, Holder said that the batsman would be up for it, insisting that he would push through it even if he was not 100 percent fit, Stuff.co.nz reported.
Holder added that it was an important game, admitting that he is a big player and they know what big players could do on big days.
