Former Pakistan foreign minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri on Monday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would soon realise that India can only be a developed nation if the latter follows the steps of the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made a promise of development to the people of India, but my limited view of history and modern economy is that you need to have peace within and peace without. I hope that Prime Minister Modi will realise that Atal Bihari Vajpayee's route was the right one," Kasuri said at the launch of his book titled, 'Neither a Hawk nor a Dove'.
"That is the reason I need to give a blue print. Those who will read the book will realise why our civilians are being killed. People will question then, why Indian and Pakistani jawans are killed across LoC. The two countries are blaming each other for the escalating ceasefire violations and as a result ordinary poor people are getting killed. So is there a way out? Yes there is. Where there is will there is way," Kasuri added.
"You don't trust United Nations Military Observers group, that's okay , but there are people of repute in India and Pakistan. There are Human rights activists who criticise their own government, there are judges of Supreme Court and higher judiciary, Nobel Prize winners in both the countries, etc. Can't we ask such people of integrity to monitor?," he said.
