Hugh Jackman has agreed to play the chief villain in a new take on Peter Pan.

The 45-year-old Australian actor has been cast as Blackbeard in the big-budget Warner Bros movie that imagines the origins of Peter Pan, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

The film, which also stars Garrett Hedlund as Captain Hook, is written by actor-turned-writer Jason Fuchs, whose screenplay imagines events before J.M. Barrie's classic 1904 play, and will be directed by Joe Wright.
