A Hyderabad student, who went missing from New York two weeks ago, has now been traced.
Mirza Ahmed Ali Baig, 26 went to the United States of America in July 2015 to pursue higher education. However, he was missing from New York since July 20, 2018 before being eventually traced on Monday morning.
Speaking to ANI, brother of Mirza Ahmed Ali Baig, Mizra Mukram Ali Baig said that the family is relieved to know that the former is safe.
"We are happy and it is a great feeling to know that my brother, Mirza Ahmed Ali Baig, is safe in the USA. We were worried that our brother might be in danger. However, we have now got a confirmation from him that he is safe and has moved to New Jersey willingly due to some personal reasons," said Baig's elder brother.
Earlier, the family had sought help from External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and the Indian Embassy in the United States.
Mukram thanked Swaraj, Indian consulate, and other officials for tracing his brother.
"I would like to thank External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Indian consulate and all others officials who have helped us in the matter," he added.
Ahmed had landed in Pennsylvania in July 2015 to pursue higher education in the field of aeronautical engineering. A year later, he switched to another educational institution in New Jersey, while simultaneously also working in New York in a mobile store.
