Former Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood has raised questions over the timing of the decision to refer Saeed Ajmal for a suspect bowling action.
According to the Dawn, Ajmal underwent tests for his bowling action at the Cricket Australia's National Cricket Centre in Brisbane on Monday. The International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a statement that the results will be declared in about two weeks.
Citing Ajmal's long cricketing career as a reason, Mahmood said that it was unfair to say that he was not bowling with a legal action.
The 37-year-old Pakistani cricketer was reported during the first Test against Sri Lanka at Galle earlier this month. He will miss part of Pakistan's one-day series against Sri Lanka.
