The International Cricket Council has citing security concerns declined to send umpires to Pakistan to oversee the upcoming limited-overs series against Zimbabwe.
The ICC, however, has proposed that local umpires could be appointed by the Pakistan Cricket Board, the BBC reported.
Zimbabwe's tour to Pakistan had been called into question following a terrorist attack in Karachi on Wednesday. However, the African nation's cricket board received a green signal from their government after assessing the security situation in Pakistan.
Zimbabwe will become the first ICC team to visit Pakistan since March 2009, when the Sri Lankan team was attacked in Lahore.
The first T20 International will be played on May 22 and the second on May 24 followed by three one-day internationals on May 26, 29, and 31.
