India is developing border infrastructure to boost trade and security along the 4,096 km India- Bangladesh border.
India is upgrading seven Land Custom Stations into world-class Integrated Checkposts with customs and immigration facilities at a cost of Rs. 467 crores for smooth cross-border movement of people, goods and transport.
The Checkposts will be at Akhaura in Agartala, Petrapole, Dawki, Hilli, Sutarkandi, Changrabandha and Kawrpuichhuah.
The Integrated CheckPost at Akhaura in Agartala is almost complete.
Trade between India and Bangladesh has greatly increased with Bangladeshi exports to India measuring a record 562 million dollars during 2012-2013.
