The Indian Embassy in Nepal on Wednesday handed over the newly-constructed building of Shree Mukti Secondary School located in Pyuthan district in mid-west Nepal.

Nepal's Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Giriraj Mani Pokhrel, inaugurated the school building during a ceremony attended by Niraj Kumar Jaiswal, second Secretary (Education), Embassy of India in Kathmandu.

"The new infrastructure constructed with the Government of India's grant assistance of Nepali Rupee (NRs.) 26.30 million, which includes new classroom blocks, ladies's classroom, guard house, water tank and boundary wall, would help the school in upgrading to higher secondary level," a release from the Indian mission in Nepal stated.

Established in 1951, the school currently hosts 1,054 students and is affiliated with the National Examination Board (NEB) of Nepal, offering plus two (10+2) programs in science, management and education streams.

"Mukti Secondary School has an illustrious tradition as an educational institute of repute in the entire mid-western region of Nepal. This is the only school providing education in science stream in this remote hill district. In 1961, the Embassy of India was associated with the construction of the Sanskrit Section of the School," the release added.

Mukti Secondary School is the first educational institution in Pyuthan district to receive Indian aid.

"The newly built infrastructure will not only boost learning environment of students but also enhance access to education to needy, poor and marginalized students of Pyuthan District and mid-western region of Nepal," the release said.
