India on Tuesday reiterated its readiness to receive Afghan trucks at the Integrated Check Post at Attari.
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, who is in New Delhi on a day-long official visit, held detailed discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard on Tuesday
Issues related to connectivity were discussed between the two in detail.
The establishment of an air freight corridor was acknowledged as an important factor in providing Afghan farmers direct and easy access to the Indian market.
The efforts for early operationalisation of the Chahbahar Port, including the shipment of wheat in coming weeks to Afghanistan through the port was considered as a step that would shape new trade and transit opportunities for landlocked Afghanistan.
Both sides agreed to work closely with regional and international partners; and consult, coordinate and cooperate in various international fora, with the view to further the objective of seeing Afghanistan emerge as a stable, peaceful, united, progressive, prosperous and pluralistic nation.
The visiting dignitary also met his Indian counterpart Ram Nath Kovind earlier in the day.
He also met India's External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and discussed bilateral and regional issues.
