Former foreign secretary Lalit Mansingh on Wednesday said that India withdrawing Most Favored Nation (MFN) from Pakistan will be a very big humiliation for Islamabad.
Singh said by repealing MFN status, India is trying to pressurize Pakistan.
"This is part of India's effort to put pressure on Pakistan through political diplomatic means. It doesn't make any difference to India-Pakistan trade, because the trade is so limited, but symbolically, it means that Pakistan being one of the few countries with MFN from India, and its withdrawal, that in itself will be a big humiliation for Pakistan," Singh told ANI.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a meeting on Thursday in which the 'Most Favoured Nation' status granted to Pakistan will be reviewed. Post Uri terror attack, India will now decide whether to withdraw the status to that country.
