India's first-ever naval and maritime exposition and conference, or NAMEXPO 2013, has concluded with a demonstration and visits to Indian Navy ships INS Satpura, INS Kabra and INS Sudarshini.
All these ships are indigenously made in Indian shipyards.
The five-day NAMEXPO witnessed the participation from 50 domestic and international exhibitors, 2000 business visitors, 15 official delegations besides 6,500 general visitors.
Indian Navy and Coast Guard officers and personnel and Naval officers from more than 25 countries also visited the exposition and interacted with exhibitors and participants.
The event was organised in partnership with the Government of Kerala, and with the support of the Indian Navy, the Coast Guard as well as Ministries of MSMEs, Earth Sciences and Shipping.
Participating countries included Australia, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, Russia, Sweden, South Africa, Singapore, US, UK, UAE and Vietnam.
Exhibitions were held on naval and commercial shipbuilding, naval aviation,naval systems and equipment, maritime equipment, coastal and port system equipment, prime movers, propulsion systems and shipborne equipment and maritime services.
Sub-themes at the event focussed on issues such as modern trends in warship and submarine construction, future marine propulsion and power generation, management technologies, consortium and dual use technology approach towards development of naval weapons and sensors, development of advanced naval aviation systems and sustainable repair support.
