India-Spain ties have intensified in recent years: President Mukherjee

President Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday extended his greetings and felicitations to Spanish King Felipe VI and the people of Spain on the eve of their National Day and said the relations between the two countries have intensified in recent years.

"On behalf of the Government, the people of India and on my own behalf, I convey warm greetings and felicitations to Your Majesty and to the people of Spain on the occasion of your National Day," he said in his message to King Felipe VI.

President Mukherjee added that the ties between both sides have expanded to embrace new areas of common interest.

"The year 2016 will mark 60 years of diplomatic relations between India and Spain, offering both countries the opportunity to work on realising fully the true potential of the two countries' partnership," President Mukherjee said.

"Please accept, Your Majesty, my best wishes for your personal health and well-being, and for the continued progress and prosperity of the people of Spain" the President said.
