India takes control of first Test against Windies with 219-run lead at lunch

India have achieved an impressive lead of 219 runs before lunch on the third day of the first Test against the West Indies at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, as Rohit Sharma scored 177 along with Ravichandran Ashwin's 124.

India got all out for 453 but not before Ashwin and Sharma put on a 280-run partnership to lead the hosts towards a very strong position in the Test match.

Shane Shillingford finished with six wickets for 167 runs while Veerasammy Permaul struck twice.

Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin got his second century against the West Indies earlier during the day.
