India to push for hosting ICC events every three years

India will reportedly be pressuring the ICC to let them host the world cricket governing body's events such as the World Cup, World Twenty20 and Champions Trophy once every three years.

A meeting of the ICC executive in Dubai next week is to discuss the controversial proposal for reform of the governing body, which would see a triumvirate of India, Australia and England essentially controlling the global game.

According to the BBC, reports from India, which generates more than 70 per cent of cricket revenue, speculate that N. Srinivasan, the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), is expected to ask that India host an ICC event once every three years.

The report however, said that it would be an extraordinary request as the World Cup is held every four years and the World Twenty20 every two years, although the Champions Trophy is likely to stay after earlier plans to scrap it for a World Test Championship.

The financial might and ability of India to throw its weight around was strengthened by reports that the BCCI made a 70.7 million-dollar profit on last year's Indian Premier League (IPL), more than double what they pocketed from the tournament in 2012.

India wants a share of ICC profits that reflects the money pouring into the sport from within its borders rather than the present model of an equal cut with the other nine member nations, the report added.
