The Ministry of External Affairs on Sunday assured that the Consulate General of India in Atlanta will extend all possible support to the family of an Indian-origin woman, who was shot during an attempted robbery in the United States.
MEA official spokesperson Vikas Swarup took to twitter to share the information.
"Our deepest condolences at the unfortunate demise of Ms. Mridulaben Patel, a PIO, after an attempted robbery at a gas station in S. Carolina," he posted.
"The @Ind_Cons_Atl has extended all possible assistance to the family of Ms. Patel and is in touch with police regarding the investigatn," he added.
Mradulaben Patel was the co-owner of a store at a gas station in Powdersville, South Carolina. An unidentified man is believed to have shot the 60-year-old in the face on Thursday night. The local police are quoted as saying that the incident was an attempted robbery and not a racial attack.
