Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has said that the Indian side is still short of playing their best as they seek to avoid a one-day series defeat.

India stopped New Zealand from clinching the series with a tied encounter in Auckland on Saturday, but still need to win the remaining two matches to nab a share of the spoils.

Ahead of the fourth ODI at Seddon Park, Ashwin said in Hamilton today that India was fighting to find from.

He said the standards that Indian players have set for themselves have been quite high, in terms of what they have achieved over the last year or so.

The 27-year-old said India is working hard to reverse its fortunes, Stuff.co.nz reports.

Ashwin, who made 65 off 46 balls in Auckland while taking an impressive 1-46 from his 10 overs of off-spin, expects better conditions for bowlers and batsmen than in the first game in Hamilton, Fairfax NZ News reports.
