Indian women incurred a 0-1 defeat on Saturday against a spirited hosts Belgium in their opening match of the Hockey World League Semifinal.
Belgian skipper Lieselotte Van Lindt scored the decisive goal after she picked up from a rebound and smashed the ball into the goal in the 35th minute.
Earlier, India's Savita had displayed her goal-keeping prowess by saving two shots from Stephanie de Groof before the Belgian captain scored the goal.
Although the Indian eves produced an aggressive show initially, they lacked accuracy in passing.
Indian Eves, who are aiming to secure a ticket to next year's Rio Olympics, will next meet New Zealand on June 23.
